M-PReS Production

M-PReS Production is a completely new formatting
engine from PrintSoft that is designed to work with
PReS. Cross Platform implementation allows jobs to
be run on both Windows and high-end Unix servers.

M-PReS Production consists of 2 well-defined modules. The Virtual
Machine (VM) reads and interprets PDC instructions, and the data-stream builder (or a number of them if you want multiple outputs) produces the data-stream. There is only one VM and it is completely independent of the data-streams (it leaves all final formatting to the builders). Hence, the output is consistent across different data-stream formats.

All resources are converted to an internal format before being converted to the data-stream format, and operations such as word-wrap are also performed in an internal data-stream independent format. This way, all data-streams produce the same output, and with
the exception of LITRECs, all PDC files can be considered to be independent of the data-stream they were compiled for. Therefore, a job developed for PostScript output can be converted to other formats
without any changes required in the script. This provides your production facility with greater flexibility.
