M-PReS Viewer
M-PReS Viewer allows printer spool files to
be viewed on a personal computer. Spool formats supported
are PCL, AFP (MODCA-P) and Kodak Versamark IJPDS. In addition to viewing
the pages within the print file, the user has the option to
print the pages to a windows printer, save them as bitmap
images or extract the text as a formatted ASCII file.
M-PReS Viewer is a tool that rips files to dot
fidelity and then scales
them for viewing on the computer screen. This ensures that
the output is extremely accurate. The entire document including
text, pictures, graphics, barcodes and variable data are faithfully
rendered.
In addition to being able to view files on screen, the user
can also
extract pages as TIFF files, while AFPDS and PCL pages can
be extracted as formatted text files. This feature, used in
conjunction with PReS, can be useful when archiving or when
marking up existing spool data because the PReS script can
then perform logic based upon the text extracted (checking
for serial or customer numbers etc).

If the AFPDS has the correct group TAGS (which ACIF or PReS
can write) then the spool file can be searched based upon
these tags.
Pages can be printed to a windows printer. There is also the
option of 'poster print' whereby you can print an A3 page
onto two A4 pages automatically. Command line options are
provided for batch mode operation.
